Apples To Apples

Hey babes!

It's hard to believe that it's halfway through June already. In just a month and a half, I'll be living outside of the province for the first time in my life. I've never felt more excited and more nervous about anything in my entire life. I'm trying to make the best of my last couple of months here at home, but it's hard because I feel as though I'm in limbo. I just want to start the next chapter of my life already.

These photos were actually taken by my boyfriend while he was home visiting (he's been gone for two weeks now) but I haven't gotten around to posting them until now. Better late than never, I suppose!

Outfit:
Cardigan: Cleo
Blouse: Forever 21+
Skirt: Modcloth
Hat: Topshop
Belt: Smart Set
Oxfords: Thrifted

I had always been in love with the apple blouse and have had it forever, but I didn't feel as though anything in my wardrobe matched it. Then I saw the green Modcloth skirt and knew that it would match perfectly!

My awesome photographer/boyfriend
On a completely different note, happy father's day to the best dad ever!! My parents live super far away, so when my dad was in town on business last week, it was such a treat! We played a ton of crib (and I even skunked him!) He headed home last Sunday, and that will be the last time I see him until Christmas, probably. Ugh.

I'll be back with another post real soon :) thanks for reading!

Flower Power

Hey babes!

It's been awhile since my last blog post, but now that the weather is finally warming up here on the east coast, I'll have lots of fun outfits to post! Here's my latest get up, I rather enjoyed wearing this. I only hope that the weather warms up soon so I can wear it sans leggings!

Holy awkward pose!
Outfit:
Cardigan: Old Navy
Shirt: New Look Inspire
Skirt: ASOS Curve
Headband: Forever 21
Bracelet: Evans
Sunglasses: Suzy Shier
Mary Janes: Fatshion Xchange

The floral headpiece is probably my favourite part of the outfit. I have seen them around for awhile and finally found one I liked. I feel like it brings the outfit together.

After posing for a couple of photos, Drew and I walked down town. We had sushi for lunch, followed with a bit of shopping and Drew's tattoo consultation. While he was talking to the tattoo artist. I decided to get an industrial ear piercing on a whim! I've been wanting to do it for awhile but didn't have the nerve to until yesterday. It hurt like hell, but it looks great and I looove it!

Sapporo and sushi, the feast of champions!

In love.

That's all for now, happy humpday, ya'll! I promise to blog again real soon!

Self Love

Hey babes!

I don't have much to say, really. Life has been pretty uneventful. I managed to finish a half completed portfolio in just a couple of days and sent it off to one of the schools I'm applying to last night. I'm praying it gets there on time.

I downloaded sketchbook pro the other day and made my first finger drawing!

Why should we look down at a scale and let a number dictate our self worth? Love yourself, no matter what number happens to be on the scale!

Update: After posting my image on Tumblr, I received this message in my inbox:

To say the least, I was shocked and at a loss for words. How could something with such a positive connotation be twisted into something so ugly? I have never talked to this individual prior to this incident, so what is the basis behind the hate?

I could've gotten angry and replied, but I knew that someone like this wasn't worth even one second of my time. It makes me sad that even after how far society has come, discriminating against fat people is still, for the large part socially acceptable. Why is that the case? I feel that this quote sums it up quite well:

“Weight is seen as controllable, unlike other stigmatized traits such as race and gender. Our subjects held a particularly strong explicit belief that fat people are lazy. This belief assumes that overweight individuals simply lack motivation or responsibility for a condition that is under their control.” (Wang et al, International Journal of Obesity (2004) 28, 1333–1337, via The Fat Nutritionist).

Even though there are many studies that conclude that obesity oftentimes isn't correlated to one's lifestyle (rather, genetics, age, medical conditions, etc), being fat still has many negative connotations within society. And even if lifestyle is, in fact, a contributing factor to one's weight, why does this stir up feelings of anger? People choose to destroy their body by smoking, yet you don't see people blatantly discriminating against smokers like they do fat people.

Well, that's my rant of the day, feel free to let me know what you think!

Blue Velvet

Hey babes!

I'll start this off with an obligatory happy 420 for those of you celebrating today! This outfit is what I wore out on a girl's night a couple of nights ago and I rather like it. I got the dress at Reitmans a couple of months back when they had a huge end of season sale - for $10. How awesome is that?

Outfit:
Dress: Reitmans
Necklace: Unique Designs kiosk
Belt: Smart Set
Purse: Globo
Bracelets: Addition Elle
Flats: Aldo

I love buying items at kiosks, thrift stores and antique stores because it's unlikely that anyone will have the same thing. I'm in love with this necklace that I picked up at the local mall; it's so funky and the colours are awesome.

I'm also really pleased with my matching flats/purse. I saw a pair of shoes at Globo that I fell in love with and that matched my purse perfectly.. but since I have super big feet, they didn't have any left in my size (of course). So needless to say, I was stoked when I found these flats; a little more pricey but they go with the purse so well, I couldn't pass them up.

A girl needs at least one nude coloured pair of shoes
In unrelated news, here are a couple of shots of my cat, Brutus while he was trying to attack my iPad. I still love him despite that.

My cat is more photogenic than your cat
I should probably end this post and make my way to the post office so I can mail my boyfriend his care package before work. I've put this off for over a week because I'm a slacker. Enjoy your weekend!

Minty Fresh

Hey babes!

Today was a great day; the sun was shining for what seemed to be the first time in fifty weeks, and spring is finally in the air here on the east coast. Unfortunately, instead of enjoying the sunshine myself, I was working all day/watching other people enjoy the great weather. I still managed to dress myself up a little to run some errands before heading to work. Here's what I wore today.

Outfit:
Hat: Le Chateau Outlet
Shirt: Domino Dollhouse (Fall 2012)
Skirt with side leather panel: Reitmans
Necklace: Dynamite
Ring: Domino Dollhouse
Bracelet: Aldo
Shoes: Dolce Vita via Fatshion Xchange

Waiting for this bad boy to go on sale for awhile.. yesterday was my lucky day!

Love punch!
Incase you haven't picked up on it yet, I'm currently obsessed with light shades of bluish green (or mint, if you will). Luckily for me, it seems to be an increasingly popular trend. If you share my passion for mint coloured items, here are some of my top minty fresh picks for you.

All of these are super adorable and I would buy them all if I had all the monies (especially the clutch; seriously, the photo doesn't do it justice). If you have any minty fresh favourites, feel free to comment, I'd love to check them out! :)

Fogtown Femme: Back With A Vengeance

Hello world,

It's been over a year since I last posted in this blog, but I'm back for good! I've always wanted to create/maintain a blog and this time, I'll actually follow through. This will be like a belated New Year's resolution.. except I'll actually stick with it for longer than a week. The only major change is that instead of being solely a plus size fashion blog, I will also incorporate other elements of my life as well to avoid being repetitive/one-dimensional.

There has been lots going on as of late, and the most recent event has been my birthday party. For the big 24, I was either going to go with a zombie apocalypse theme or host a rainbow unicorn party. I decided on the latter just because people would probably rather see pretty things seeing as it's officially spring and all.

As you can see from the above photo, I make some kickass rainbow jello shots for my party. They were fairly easy (although time consuming) to make; just add one colour, let it set for roughly 30 minutes, add the second colour, and so on. I mixed the jello like normal and used about 2/3 of a cup of vodka per colour. Three jello packages and a flask (375 mLs) of vodka later, and voila! Rainbow jello shots!

Also, I enjoy my colourful house so much, I might have to keep the decorations up until I move away in August (or until they all fall off the walls/ceiling, whichever happens first).

don't mind my hilarious rainbow donkey with a horn attached to it's head; you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find unicorn themed items.

Most importantly, I spend my birthday with some of the baddest, raddest people around.

love these ladies!
Overall, my birthday was a success, and I have my wonderful family and friends to thank for that. Although it's slightly depressing to think that this will be the last year I can claim I'm still in my early twenties without being a liar, I'm excited for all of the new adventures to come my way!

Happy St. Hangover Day

I hope everyone enjoyed their St. Patrick's weekend, and get the leisure of spending today recovering/relaxing/etc. Unfortunately for me, I have to spend my Sunday working a split shift, but at least it will take my mind off of the massive hangover I'm nursing. It's okay though, the night of dancing and catching up with friends was totally worth it ('dancing through the decades', ie. playing music from the 60's and working up the decades until 2012 is the best dance party idea ever).

I managed to take a rushed self portrait of my very last minute St. Paddy's Day outfit, which required a lot of digging through my closet, but here's what I managed to slap together.

Outfit:
Beret: Winners
Shamrock earrings: A gift from my boyfriend's mom
Cardigan: H&M
Tank: Winners
Skirt: City Chic
Bracelet: Addition Elle
Tights: Addition Elle
Clutch: Forever 21

I didn't have a lot of green to incorporate into this outfit (the one green shirt I do own, I couldn't find), but I feel as though I made it work. Happy St. Hangover Day, everyone!
